THE CREAM STARTS TO RISE TO THE TOP
The expected big hitters at this year’s EMF EuroCup are now starting to shine after a very slow start.
Big things were expected before the tournament got underway from ACS Arsenal and Pljevlja 04 DC Light System, but both got off to sluggish starts and narrowly got through the group stages, especially the team from Montenegro.
The Romanians won very comfortably though 5-0 against Engerau Boys Imooptik, whilst Pljevlja found it more difficult but eventually ran out 2-0 winners.
FC Even continue to look good and they made it safely through after beating Garden Goats 3-1, but they now face probably the in running favourites for this tournament, in FC Elektrowozniak, who smashed Help Car 4-1 in their last 16 tie.
Budmax and Zel Degson were emphatic 3-0 winners in their respective matches, whilst Abus Gastro scrambled home 2-1 against FC Raicommerce.
The only other match of the first knockout round saw FC Temp continue to quietly go about their business, as they brushed aside FC Villa Mark 3-1.
The quarter finals get going later this evening here in Sofia, as all 8 teams look to book their place in tomorrow’s semi finals.
